At 19 weeks pregnant with their second child, doctors told Josh and Becca Dickau that their baby would not survive to 21 or 22 weeks gestation. Even if Becca was able to carry their baby to full term, they were told that their child had less than a 0.01% chance of surviving outside of the womb. But persistent with the love and devotion for their son within, the Dickau family would not let the doctors convince them that this baby was not worth fighting for. He was, and at 32 week gestation, Eli Martin Dickau was born. Although he was born with a number of cosmetic issues and doctors expected that his life expectancy would be less than a few days, Eli has progressed remarkably.
Now a year later, Eli has celebrated his first birthday and we can see what a beautiful boy he truly is. His physical and mental developments are 100% on target! Although he has undergone a number of surgeries to help with his cleft palette, improperly formed skull and more, Eli is a remarkably happy, loving and LOVED child. You can see from the attached montage what a spark he has and the undeniable love that he shares with his big sister. He is truly living up to his name – Eliashib (God Restores) Martin (Warrior, god of War).

“We are just blessed to have him in our lives. Some people may see him as a problem, because he has a lot of things that he will deal with throughout his life, but it has been such an amazing journey and we feel so honored to be able to raise him”
“We love Eli more than words can express, and other than a few cosmetic issues Eli is 100% normal. Had we listened to the doctors when we found out at 19 weeks into the pregnancy what was ‘wrong’ with him and aborted or ‘induced labor early’ we never would have known the Joy, Love, and Blessing that Eli is to us!”
We are so grateful for people like the Dickau’s for their commitment and love of life!!
Please share this remarkable story so the world can see what true love is all about.

God bless this beautiful family. Eli is beautiful and precious. Let us all pray for an end to abortion and an end to letting evil have the upper hand when we are faced with uncertain circumstances! Live is God’s greatest gift!
He is beautiful! Love those smiles!
This is truly one of God’s children and one of the most beautiful children I have ever met. The parents should be blessed as you have a wonderful child and you did the right thing in loving him so much that you gave him his life.
What a beautiful family inside and out!!!!!!!!
I was glad to run into at children’s! You helped give me perspective and strength when I was dealing with Alcy’s surgery. Happy birthday little guy!
